What Is Pentecost Sunday?

The Coming of the Holy Spirit

” When the day of Pentecost arrived, they were all together in one place. ² And suddenly there came from heaven a sound like a mighty rushing wind, and it filled the entire house where they were sitting. ³ And divided tongues as of fire appeared to them and rested on each one of them. ⁴ And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit gave them utterance.”- Acts 2:1-4

Honestly, I don’t think I ever understood the full story of Pentecost Sunday until today when a Preacher and Sunday School Teacher did a great job of explaining it! 🙂

I knew that the Holy Spirit was sent to the Apostles and they were given the Gift of Speaking in Tongues. But what I didn’t know, or what I had forgotten, is that they then preached to 3,000 people. And each person heard them in their own language.

Can you imagine their amazement? What a miracle :). And what a miracle that so many listened!

Because that is also the key. God can talk, but we need to listen 🙂
