While praying the Rosary, I saw a soldier running after a man in regular clothes. The soldier shot him in the back.
War is not neat and tidy. Horrific things happen in war. Soldiers die. Civilians die. Both are wounded. And they are wounded not just physically, but emotionally and spiritually. Sometimes forever.
We are so Blessed in America. War has not come to our shores in our life time or the lives of our children, but it may come one day.
Meanwhile, please pray for all those who are suffering through one!
“There was once a daring escape from a Nazi war prison. The inmates had dug a tunnel, which sadly had surfaced twenty feet short of the cover of a wooded area. So they waited for a moonless night and sent one man into the woods to watch for the time when the guard would turn his back. His job was to pull on a piece of string which ran from the woods down into the tunnel. This would let the next prisoner know it was safe for him to emerge. One by one, the man felt the tug of the string and surfaced, running into the safety of the dark woods. Unfortunately, the guard heard a sound and walked across to the area where the hole was located. He didn’t see the opening but tood by it for some time , looking suspiciously around the locality. Time seemed to stand still for the next prisoner who was waiting underground for the tug of the string.
Suddenly, he lost patience. He could stand it no longer. He moved forward, then up and out of the hole in the dark. It was the last thing he did. The guard swung around and fired on him with his machine gun, filling him full of lead.
We can learn from that man’s fatal mistake. His error was threefold. He lacked patience, faith and obedience. If only he had trusted the one on the other end. If only he had obeyed in faith and obedience. If only he had trusted the one on the other end. If only he had obeyed instructions given to him, he would have found his freedom. Instead, he lost his very life.
The Bible tells us that we inherit the promise of God through “faith and patience”. There are times when a Christian asks God for something, and there is a delay. But he doesn’t lose patience. He hangs in there. The One holding onto the string can see things he can’t and He (God) knows what is best for him. No matter how far we have fallen, no matter where we are in life and no matter who we are with, we can always go Home to our Lord. He is waiting for us always, with open arms and an open heart. God loves us and as long as we are alive, we can return to Him and He will help us 🙂
God will meet us exactly where we are, no matter what!
27 The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?
2 When the wicked, even mine enemies and my foes, came upon me to eat up my flesh, they stumbled and fell.
3 Though an host should encamp against me, my heart shall not fear: though war should rise against me, in this will I be confident.
4 One thing have I desired of the Lord, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the Lord, and to enquire in his temple.
5 For in the time of trouble he shall hide me in his pavilion: in the secret of his tabernacle shall he hide me; he shall set me up upon a rock.
6 And now shall mine head be lifted up above mine enemies round about me: therefore will I offer in his tabernacle sacrifices of joy; I will sing, yea, I will sing praises unto the Lord.
7 Hear, O Lord, when I cry with my voice: have mercy also upon me, and answer me.
8 When thou saidst, Seek ye my face; my heart said unto thee, Thy face, Lord, will I seek.
9 Hide not thy face far from me; put not thy servant away in anger: thou hast been my help; leave me not, neither forsake me, O God of my salvation.
10 When my father and my mother forsake me, then the Lord will take me up.
11 Teach me thy way, O Lord, and lead me in a plain path, because of mine enemies.
12 Deliver me not over unto the will of mine enemies: for false witnesses are risen up against me, and such as breathe out cruelty.
13 I had fainted, unless I had believed to see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living.
14 Wait on the Lord: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the Lord.
Thinking back over the years; it’s easy to remember just how often God has been kind to me. The times I was worried about my children and He brought them home to me. The times when it snowed so bad, and yet our Lord brought my husband safely home. The times when people I loved were sick, and got better! The times our Lord did not even let me worry and sent encouragement my way!
We forget sometimes all the times God did not allow something bad to happen in our live and did not even allow us to worry about their possibility.
Or the times God helped us do something we just didn’t have the skill to do!
Or the times God helped us love someone who was truly unlovable ?
“For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek. For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith; as it is written, “The just shall live by faith.”- Romans 1:16-17
Reading the news will not help us, but reading the Bible will! In fact, it is exactly what we will need to get through these difficult times.
God gave us His Word for a number of reasons. One of those reasons was that it would help us in our time of need.
God has a history of “Marking” people “Safe”. Remember Exodus 12?
“The blood shall be a sign for you, on the houses where you are. And when I see the blood, I will pass over you, and no plague will befall you to destroy you, when I strike the land of Egypt.”-Exodus 12:13
The “lamb” mentioned in Exodus 12, for us- is Jesus.
I saw a full crate of fruit and then an empty one.
“And I heard a voice in the midst of the four living creatures saying, “A quart of wheat for a denarius, and three quarts of barley for a denarius; and do not harm the oil and the wine.”-Revelation 6:6
It isn’t just higher prices for food that will come; it is also a lack of available food. But while there may be a shortage of food for the body, there will never be a shortage of food for the soul! 🙂
Being ready does not necessarily mean going shopping. It means being as close to God as we possibly can be. It means remembering that whatever we have been given, we are to be a good steward and follow God’s Will. It means we need to Share with one another, for our Lord has commanded us to love God and love one another ?
Praying is the Best way to “Prepare”. We can pray all day and all night. There is no limit to the number of prayers we can pray, so pray now ?
“And I beheld, and lo a black horse; and he that sat on him had a pair of balances in his hand. And I heard a voice in the midst of the four beasts say, A measure of wheat for a penny, and three measures of barley for a penny; and see thou hurt not the oil and the wine.”-Revelation 5-8
For many, this will be the Black Horse of poverty. Many of the rich will get richer and everyone else will get poorer. For many, there will be great famine and great struggle.
America has been Blessed beyond measure. And with those Blessings comes great responsibility. And if we do not fulfil those responsibilities, if we do not honor and include God who has Blessed us so greatly, we will loose those Blessings.
