“Do not fear to tell Jesus that you love Him, even though you may not feel that love. In this way, you will compel Him to come to your aid and carry you like a little child who is too weak to walk.”
St. Theresa

One thing that sets Christians apart is that we do not earn our salvation, it is a gift from God:
“For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast” -Ephesians 2:8-9
Christians are also different in that they are to love their enemies:
“But I say to you who hear, Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who abuse you. To one who strikes you on the cheek, offer the other also, and from one who takes away your cloak do not withhold your tunic either. Give to everyone who begs from you, and from one who takes away your goods do not demand them back. 31 And as you wish that others would do to you, do so to them.”-Luke 27-31

“In Essentials Unity, In Non-Essentials Liberty, In All Things Charity”
Rupertus Meldenius, Germans Theologian appears in 1627 tract during the 30 year war
The real question is: what are the Essentials?
We need to ask the Holy Spirit.
The Holy Spirit will be so glad we did, and so will we!

“Helping one person may not change the word, but it may change the world for one person”
I heard a great question on the radio. A woman said that every night they went around the table and each person shared how they had made someone’s life better. What a wonderful way to keep both the adults and children focused on helping others!
And what an idea for each of us to think about each day! When life gets so busy, it’s easy to let loving each other kind of slip away. But this family was focused daily on making another person’s life at least a little better (if not a lot lol).
You will be amazed at how much happiness one act of kindness will give you!

It’s hard to explain how these two work together. One thing I can share is that when we are fully Surrendered to the Lord there is no more Fear. Only Peace 🙂
There is no more fear because we have already accepted that the worst possible tragedy could happen to us, but with the help of God, we know we could walk through it. We know that God’s Help will be enough
His Grace is sufficient.
Notice, I am not saying we “believe” it. I am saying that we “know”. And there is a very real difference.
But in order to fully have God’s Peace; we need to fully Surrender. And that’s not always easy. And sometimes it takes a lot of prayer and a lot time.
But together, with the Help of the Holy Spirit, we can do it.
One prayer that can really help, is the Surrender Novena. Sometimes we need to pray it several times in order to reach our goal. I know I had to pray it many times, over and over. But it does make a very real difference 🙂
Below is a link to the Surrender Novena:
Jesus will never let us down. He will always love us and He will always walk with us. And when we feel like we can’t walk anymore, He will carry us 🙂
“The Lord replied, “My precious, precious child. I love you, and I would never, never leave you during your times of trial and suffering. When you saw only one set of footprints, It was then that I carried you.”-The Footprints Prayer
We’ve seen other countries at war for so long; we’ve become numb to it, but God has not! We ourselves have been sending our troops all over the world; we have become numb to their suffering, but God has not!
God wants Peace. He loves each and every human being with a love far beyond our understanding and with a faithfulness that withstands all. And He loves and cares about every human being that is suffering far more than we do. On all sides. God wants the suffering to stop and Peace to reign!
So wherever we are, let’s also do what we can to bring about Peace.
And what is it we can do?
As never before, we can pray. For the sake of all of those who suffer, for the sake of our children who shall inherit this earth, let us Pray for Peace.
We have been given one of life’s most precious gifts-Time. Our Father, who gives such good gifts to His children, has given us Time to prepare for what is coming. But it is how we use that Time that will really matter. We need to memorize every Bible verse that we can. Let’s start with these two 🙂
“Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee.”-Psalm 119:11
“Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.”-Psalm 119:105

The Saints. Catholics believe that some Followers of Christ are “special”. One Catholic definition says: “Saints are persons in heaven (officially canonized or not), who lived heroically virtuous lives, offered their life for others, or were martyred for the faith, and who are worthy of imitation.” For the most part, Saints are cannonized by the Catholic church. In other words, the Pope makes the final decision.
One Protestant definition of a Saint is: ” A saint is a “holy one,” someone who is set apart for God’s special purposes. As a result, every follower of Jesus Christ is a saint.”
I am not going to try to settle the question that lies between the Catholics and the Protestants of “who is a Saint”. Clearly, that is a larger debate for another day. Suffice to say, it is Jesus who decides everything 🙂
But irregardless of whose definition we believe, I think we can all agree that Saints are special people and we can only benefit from trying to live lives like theirs and by following their great examples.
Because they did share one very important quality, they always put Jesus first!

“Christianity is more than a relationship with Jesus. It is more than discipleship. It is a way of seeing and comprehending all reality.”
Chuck Colson
In so many ways, Chuck Colson said it best. Following Jesus is a way of life. It’s a way of thinking. It’s a worldview. It’s everything we will ever need 🙂
