What Does The Holy Spirit Really Do?

Thank You!

A good friend of mine sent this, it was so good, just had to share πŸ™‚

“It is impossible to follow God unless we are led by the Spirit. The only way to be led by the Spirit is to follow God’s command to be filled by the Spirit. God’s Word interestingly compares being filled with the Spirit with being drunk.

Somebody who is drunk with wine or alcohol is controlled by it. But someone who is “drunk in the Spirit” is controlled and consumed by the Spirit, who helps us live holy lives.

How are we filled with the Spirit? The Holy Spirit enters you when you decided to give your life to Christ, to become a Christian. But we need to continually ask the Holy Spirit to lead us, to guide us, to help us do the things God wants us to do. When we’re growing as Christians, we should allow the Spirit to take control over more and more of our lives.

The Holy Spirit plays many roles. You can read about some of them in these passages in God’s Word: John 14:15-27; John 16: 5-15, Romans 8: 1-17; Galatians 5:16-26. In John 14, for example, Jesus says the Holy Spirit will comfort us when we’re hurting and promises that the Spirit will bring us peace. Jesus also says the Spirit will help us recall the things we’ve learned about God, which also means the Spirit will help us when we tell others about our faith.

In John 16, Jesus refers to the Spirit as a “Counselor” who will guide us in our everyday lives. One way is by convicting us of sin. And this is really a good thing: God wants us to get rid of the things that displease Him, and the only way to identify those things is to be convicted by the Spirit. The Spirit works through our conscience to make us aware of sin in our lives. Romans 8 tells us the Spirit will help us stop sinning and do the things that please God.

A verse later in that chapter also tells us that the Spirit helps us pray. When we go to God and say, “Lord, I’m just not sure how to pray or what to say”, the Holy Spirit helps us in those times, and actually intercedes for us, with the help of Jesus Christ, saying the prayers for us. IS that cool or what?

We are still responsible to do our part, especially to consistently read our Bibles and pray, asking the Spirit to show us the Truth and teach us how to live. It’s important to remember that the Spirit will not prompt us to do anything that goes against Scripture. People sometimes justify their actions by saying, “My conscience told me…..”. We need to make sure we’re listening the the Voice of the Holy Spirit, not the voice of our own desires. And we know which is which by checking this voice against the Truth of God’s Word. How can you tell if you’re being led by the Spirit? By the “fruit” of your life, your attitudes and actions. Galatians 5:22-23 says, “the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.” Are these things evident in your life? Two verses later, it says, “If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.”

My thoughts and prayers are that you are walking in the Spirit. Truly, we still make mistakes while on earth. That is why Jesus took our place, because of His Mercy and Grace, knowing we would be forever lost without His Sacrifice on the Cross. Only with His Strength and Courage, can we possibly defeat the evil one at his own game. We should continually become closer and closer to our Heavenly Father, Son, and Holy Spirit for moments granted on earth, with just a short step to meet Jesus and be introduced to our Father to live with Him, forever and ever.”

“In Jesus’ Name. Thy Will be done. Amen. Peace.”

We Can Trust God :)

“No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgment thou shalt condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of theΒ Lord, and their righteousness is of me, saith theΒ Lord.” – Isaiah 54:17

Notice this verse says, “This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord”. It doesn’t say, this is the heritage of nations who have turned AWAY from our Lord.

But it is the “heritage” of those individuals who have continued to serve our Lord and Follow Jesus πŸ™‚

We can Trust God, He will not let us down πŸ™‚

God Is, God Is Not

A good friend sent me this, it was so good, just had to share πŸ™‚

Please Pray…

A plane like this filled with soldiers…Clapping each other on the back, laughing and smiling, talking and encouraging one another…

They were not “soldiers”, they were human beings, and most of them were so very young, with their whole life in front of them. Please pray for them!

Prepare, Pray & Be Ready

Thank you!

There is a quote in one of the KJV Bibles by Oswald J. Smith (a missionary born in 1890); it says, “Oh to realize that souls, precious, never dying souls, are perishing all around us, going out into the blackness of darkness and despair, eternally lost, and yet to feel no anguish, shed no tears, know no travail! How little we know of the compassion of Jesus!”

During war, so many of our soldiers and our civilians die under horrific circumstances. Circumstances from which only their faith in Jesus Christ can save them.

Please Pray!

Prepare, Pray & Be Ready!

Faithfulness, Mercy and Justice

Thank You!

β€œWoe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you tithe mint and dill and cumin, and have neglected the weightier matters of the law: justice and mercy and faithfulness. These you ought to have done, without neglecting the others.”-Matthew 23:23

So often, we hear many speak of the importance of tithing, but as Matthew 23:23 shares while tithing is good, we must not neglect the “weightier matters of the law: justice and mercy and faithfulness.”

One definition of faithfulness says faithfulness comes from a “place of trust and loyalty”. A pretty good description. We place our trust in God and even if and when we have doubts, our loyalty carries us through until our faith grows to meet the challenges we face :).

Mercy. We are all familiar with and love God’s Mercy. And we all pray for it :). For no matter how hard we try, there will always be times we fall. And there will always be challenges in this life on earth that are simply beyond us. God’s Mercy will make the difference πŸ™‚

God’s Justice is coming. We have read about it in the Bible and it is coming to this country and to the world. Our nation has turned away from the God who Blessed it so, sadly our nation will pay the price.

It may be that we will be “hid in the Day of the Lord’s anger”, we pray so. Prepare, Pray and Be Ready…

Miracle Power

Lyrics: Miracle Power

We the Kingdom

This is for the lost and lonely
For the broken and afraid
This is for those who are hurting
Hoping help is on the way

In these battles of addiction
When fear is chasing after me
Whatever trouble I am facing
I will lift my hands and sing

I believe in miracle power
In a wonder working God
I am filled with the Holy Spirit
Working wonders in my heart
I belong to a loving Father
I’m a friend of Christ His Son
When it feels like I won’t make it
I call on Jesus

Sometimes it’s so hard being human
So much struggle so much pain (yes, there is)
When I start singing hallelujah
I say goodbye to every chain (oh)

I believe in miracle power
In a wonder working God
I am filled with the Holy Spirit
Working wonders in my heart
I belong to a loving Father
I’m a friend of Christ His Son
When it feels like I won’t make it
I call on Jesus, yeah
There is no other name than Jesus

I may not know
What a day may bring
But I know
Who brings the day
On the darkest night
When I cannot see
Still my soul will say

I may not know
What a day may bring
But I know
Who brings the day
On the darkest night
When I cannot see
Still my soul will say
My soul will say

I believe in miracle power
In a wonder working God
I am filled with the Holy Spirit
Working wonders in my heart
I belong to a loving Father
I’m a friend of Christ His Son
When it feels like I won’t make it
I call on Jesus
Oh, there’s miracle power
When I call on Jesus”

The Importance Of Saying Thank You :)

“Thank You Jesus, You set me free. Christ my Savior, rescue me”-Hillsong

Remember Luke 17:11-15, the Bible verses about the lepers that Jesus healed πŸ™‚ But despite the fact that Jesus healed 10, only one returned to say Thank You! How sad for the other 9.

There is something about saying Thank You, the acknowledgement of who our Help comes from, that truly strengthens out faith. The nine who never returned to say Thank You to Jesus will never have their faith strengthened as the one who returned to say Thank You did. And that is why it is so sad that the 9 failed to return!

When we were young, our parents taught us to say Thank You. And so we should. To God most of all πŸ™‚ We say Thank You because it is the right thing to do and because it also strengthens our faith πŸ™‚

It’s easy to remember to say Thank You when we receive a wonderful gift! But it can be hard to remember to say Thank You when life is just going along well and we are too “busy”. And it can be hard to say Thank You when times are tough.

But the truth is, when times are good, that is exactly when we need to make time to Thank God for His wonderful provision. And when times are tough, we need to Thank God for walking through those times with us and giving us the strength to deal with them.

And, of course, we need to Thank Jesus every day for reconciling us with our Father and creating a path Home to Heaven for us πŸ™‚

There is a young man who started a “Thank You” sign movement. His signs thanking Jesus are only $10. You can get one (or more) of these “Thank You” signs at this site. Not only do they encourage others; they will bring us great joy!

Share with the world just how grateful you are to Jesus, get one today πŸ™‚
