I’ve often wondered what a letter from Jesus to His Mother might have said? How would Jesus thank her? How do we thank her?
Our own children are so close to us. So grateful for their childhoods, our love and counsel, our wisdom….our hugs, that they can count on us always ! How does one even begin to say thank you for that? What do they say? A picture is worth a thousand words, but a hug is worth even more!
However, Jesus would have added even more! He would have thanked her for encouraging His first miracle (John 2:1-21) and for the many times she encouraged Him and listened to Him. The way she stood at the Cross while He suffered, willing Him with her love to make it through.
I can’t even imagine standing below the Cross of my son, witnessing the pain and suffering that he was in. It would have ripped by heart out and I do not think I would have had the strength to witness it. But Mary did! And the love!
And Mary did it with an endless love and strength. Her courage knew no limit. Her willingness to accept God’s Will was amazing and continue to be such an example for us all. Jesus loves her so and that is without doubt! And that He admired her is without question.
As Mothers, following Mary’s great example can only help our own children and bring us closer to Jesus 🙂
It would be hard for a letter to convey the depth of love Mary had for Jesus and that Jesus had for Mary, perhaps a hug might be the only way 🙂
