The Guardrails of God

So often, those who do not accept Jesus as their Savior cite their reason as their wish to be “free” to do as they wish. But freedom without responsibility does not lead us to a happy place.

God gave us “Guardrails” for a reason. He loves us and wants us to be happy. Let’s take an easy one. One of God’s Guardrails is “do not murder” (Exodus 20:13). As we all know, murder does not lead to a happy place! Not only are we filled with a guilt that does not go a way, at least not on its own, but we run the risk of life in prison or the death penalty. And it’s just not us that suffer, it’s all those who love us!

There is another type of murder. Abortion. Abortion does not lead to a happy place for the woman involved. And certainly not for the baby. The baby is murdered by its own mother. The baby involved will never have its First Christmas. The baby involved will never roll down a hill of grass for the First Time or ride a bike for the First Time. The baby involved will miss so much and know that its mother murdered her or him.

The woman involved will always know that she murdered her child. And even if she doesn’t realize that she is murdering her child at the time, she will realize it one day.

Does Jesus forgive abortion, absolutely. But every woman that has an abortion suffers, and remembers. And because God loves them; He doesn’t want them to suffer so!

In the Bible, it says, “Do not murder”(Exodus 20:13). This command is just one of a number of God’s Guardrails. He made us and so He knows what will bring us happiness and murder won’t. And because He made us, God knows that our disobedience of His “Guardrails” will only bring us pain. So it’s our choice. Obey His “Guardrails” or suffer the consequences.
