“ So then, because you are lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will vomit you out of My mouth.”-Revelation 3:16
It is rare that God’s Word is so horribly descriptive (vomit). Clearly from the verse, God does not want or like “lukewarm” Christians. God wants our hearts to be on fire for Him. He wants us to follow Him enthusiastically and completely.
So what are a few of the steps we can take to avoid this “lukewarm” state?
We can pray-daily. We can read God’s Word-daily. We can do our very best to obey God’s Word-daily. Notice a pattern here; it’s a daily effort!
We can avoid sin and repent daily. We can ask God to “Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me.”-Psalm 51:10
We can:
“‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ 38 This is the first and greatest commandment. 39 And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.'”-Matthew 22: 37-39
Remember, Love can also be an action verb.
Being “hot” for the Lord is a daily commitment and a way of life. One we need to choose if we truly want to Follow Jesus.
