We All Sin – But God Forgives Us :)

“Now the word of the Lord came to Jonah the son of Amittai, saying, “Arise, go to Nineveh, that great city, and cry out against it; for their wickedness has come up before Me.” But Jonah arose to flee to Tarshish from the presence of the Lord” – Jonah 1:1-3

Jonah did his best to flee from God. He knew it was wrong, but he did it anyway. But God forgave him and Jonah went on to become the prophet he was meant to be and to help the people of Nineveh.

We all make mistakes. Sometimes we even sin just outright and on purpose; we are disobedient. But God forgives us anyway, that’s why Jesus came 🙂

We need not fear to turn back to God when we have sinned; God loves us and He is waiting for us. And God will be filled with joy when we turn back to Him 🙂

Ninevah & America

There was a reason that God wanted Jonah to go to Ninevah. The culture itself had become so wicked; they no longer even realized just how wicked they had become. God wanted Jonah to warn them! So they could repent and return to God in time!

Can we think of another country who has allowed its culture to become so wicked that the majority of the country no longer seem to even see it? How about our own country? Has the majority of America become so wicked they can not even see?

Our country has indeed become a dark place, perhaps the prayer, “God, Please Open Our Eyes is the right one for us!

Do Not Fear!

“No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgment thou shalt condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord, and their righteousness is of me, saith the Lord.”-Isaiah 54:17

We need not fear, for God Is With Us 🙂

Sharing Our Faith :)

“Less than two percent of believers ever share their faith in Christ with others.” – Dr. Bill Bright, Founder of the Campus Crusade

“The Holy Spirit will give you the words to say at the moment when you need them.”-Luke 12:12

Many of us worry about how to share our faith. It’s a common worry. We ask ourselves, “What words should we use?” , “How do I begin the conversation?”, “What do I do if the person if the person becomes angry?” …

But the Holy Spirit will Help us; we need not worry about what we will say 🙂

And maybe we should also worry about how we will feel when that person does not get to know Jesus and does not go to Heaven.

We Can Share Our Faith Right Where We Are :)

“How each of us can identify with Jonah! We have been told to “go ” also and speak to the world about the great wickedness that that has come before God. We may identify with the prophet, but God forbid that we sh0uld imitate him. He fled “from the presence of the Lord”. A fish would do better to try and flee from the presence of the ocean…God is omnipresent.”- Author Unknown

To “go” for God does not necessarily mean we have to go somewhere as missionaries do. We can also be a “missionary” right where we are. We can “bloom where we are planted” and we can share our faith in Jesus right where we are. Just as we can warn those around us of the “great wickedness that has come before God.” And if we haven’t done that, we can start today 🙂

Which Group Do We Want To Be A Part Of?

“Not unto us, O Lord, not unto us, But to Your name give glory,
Because of Your mercy, Because of Your truth.
Why should the Gentiles say, “So where is their God?
But our God is in heaven; He does whatever He pleases.
Their idols are silver and gold, The work of men’s hands.
They have mouths, but they do not speak;
Eyes they have, but they do not see;” – Psalm 115:1-5

“You who fear the Lord, trust in the Lord; He is their help and their shield.” – Psalm 115:11

The Lord has been mindful of us; He will bless us; He will bless the house of Israel; He will bless the house of Aaron. 13 He will bless those who fear the Lord, Both small and great.”-Psalm 115: 12-13

I know which group I want to be apart of; do you?

Facing Fear!

“When my soul fainted within me I remembered the LORD and my prayer came in to you, into your Holy Temple.” – Jonah 2:7

In this verse, Jonah is speaking. He is terribly afraid. And yet, despite his dire circumstances, Jonah knows that God is the only answer and he prays to the LORD.

In the years ahead, we will also have to face our fears. God will still be the only answer and we will need to pray to the LORD 🙂

And because of God’s great compassion and love for us, He will be answer 🙂

The Blind Guides

“Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for you pay tithe of mint and anise and cummin, and have omitted the weightier matters of the law, judgement, mercy and faith: these ought you to have done, and not leave the others undone. You blind guides which strain at a gnat and swallow a camel.”- Daniel 23:23-24

Often, we pray that God opens the eyes of the unbeliever and this is good, but we also need to pray that God opens our own!

Overcome Evil With Good :)

“Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.” -Romans 12:21

This verse can have two meanings. Sometimes, by the good we do, we can convince those with evil intentions to choose good. But it also means that by doing good in the face of evil, we save ourselves.

It can be hard to keeping doing good in the face of great evil, especially when it seems to harm those we love or us. But we can do it :). That said, it’s okay to ask God for Help, for He knows just how hard this can be and just how human we are.

So if someone is rude to you, smile at them. If someone hits you, pray for them. If someone is unkind to you, be kind to them. If someone is unloving to you, love them anyway. Hug them and let them know that they are loved 🙂

And each time, offer your effort to Jesus as your gift to Him 🙂

Today, and in the coming years, we will face those who would do us evil. Pray for them. Love them. Smile at them and offer them help. For remember, their consequences may be eternal and you may be the “only Bible they ever read 🙂

We May Be The Only “Jesus” Someone Ever Meets :)

“You yourselves are our letter, written on our hearts, known and read by everyone. You show that you are a letter from Christ, the result of our ministry, written not with ink but with the Spirit of the living God, not on tablets of stone but on tablets of human hearts.” – 2 Corinthians 3:2

A great friend of mine remined me that we may be the only “Jesus” someone ever meets!

It isn’t just what we tell them about Jesus that matters; it’s how we act. Are we kind? Are we smiling? Are we honest? Do we clearly care about them? All of these things really matter!

After all, isn’t that why we love God so much, He loved us first, and so well 🙂
