Be The Light!

“You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden.  Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house.  In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.” – Matthew 5:14-16

We live in dark times, but Christ is the Light we follow. And Jesus calls upon us to be the light that others follow to lead people to Jesus and Heaven.

For Jesus gives people a surety of Heaven to hold during these difficult days.

God’s Will For Us :)

Rejoice always,  pray continually,  give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.” – 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18

As Christians, we spend a lot of time seeking God’s Will for our lives, but God tells us pretty plainly above what His Will is for us.

There will always be decisions to be made: where to live, which job to take, which church to attend, who to vote for…

But, in the end, whichever decisions we make with God’s Help, this Bible verse tells us of God’s Will for us no matter where we land 🙂

Rejoice always,  pray continually,  give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.” – 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18

We Need To Love The Lost Like Jesus Does!

How many of the lost are just people who grew up hurting? Perhaps they were hurt in a church, or among their family or friends. Perhaps they lost someone they love. Perhaps they were abused as children and it just broke them. There are so many who are just hurting! And because they are hurting, some became angry and lash out. We need to love them like Jesus does. And if the opportunity presents itself, share the Good News!

But we also need to remember that although Jesus loves us, part of loving us is telling us the Truth. He does not tell us that wrong is right and Jesus does not tell us that evil is good. And while it is really important to love and pray for the lost, we also need to be honest with them.

There is truly a difference between those who are just lost and those who are truly evil. The Holy Spirit can help us to see who is who. We just need to ask Him:)

Being Happy :)

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.  And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”-Philippians 4:6-7

Gratitude leads to happiness, it always has.  There is a new song out, “Counting my Blessings”.  It reminded me of something that God taught me.  Being grateful to God leads us to being happy.  When life is difficult, it’s almost easier to see the Blessings God give us.  Even the simple, small things cause great gratitude:). However, sometimes when life is going well, it can be harder to find them because our needs then are smaller.  But all good things come from God, every single one.  We need to celebrate and thank God for each one.

Feeling down?  I guarantee that if you count each Blessing God has given you, you will feel better 🙂

Jesus Strengthens Us :)

“I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me” – Philippians 4:13

Life on earth can be really hard. Sometimes we have to do things that seem impossible, but we need to do them. Fortunately for us, Jesus is always willing to help us. And Jesus can and will strengthen us! Just ask Him 🙂

“Let Us Not Grow Weary Of Doing Good”

“And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up.” – Galatians 6:9

It’s hard sometimes not to feel exhausted. Sometimes it’s easy to feel that after the workday, comes job number two. Dinner, Laundry, Yardwork, Homework… And yet, Jesus said don’t “grow weary of doing good”.

Fortunately, sometimes good is simply smiling at someone in the grocery. But sometimes it’s using the small amount of time that we have left to listen to someone who needs to talk. Sometimes it’s using our time to hug another or hold someone’s hand. And sometimes it’s using it to bring a neighbor a bag of groceries…

But one thing we do know, is that Jesus said if we don’t “grow weary of doing good”, we will be greatly rewarded 🙂

Rest In Jesus :)

“Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.   Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.   For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”-Matthew 11:28-30

When difficult times come, even really difficult times, we can always rest in Jesus. Indeed, Jesus calls us too!

We can close our eyes, shut out the world and all it’s worries, and be with our Lord 🙂

But like anything, truly being with Jesus takes practice. So start now, so you will be ready 🙂

Heed The Warning Of The Narrow Gate!

“Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it.  But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.”-Matthew 7:13-14

While praying the Rosary I saw so many people. They stood in the dark. Only a few stood in the light. It reminded me of the Narrow Gate.

Thank You Mary, my Blessed Mother, for reminding us!

Thanking God For Prayer!

Prayer is such an amazing gift :). It brings us to the Throne Room of God. How many people get to do that?

Think about it. If there were a King, would we be able to enter his throne room and kneel before him and share our joys and concerns? Would we be able to ask him for anything we wanted or needed?

But we can with God; the King of All. And not only can we, God invites us too! Because God can’t wait to talk with us, because He loves us!

God’s Love Is Unconditional & Forever!

In a song by Melissa Helser and Cageles Birds, they sing, “You know my Mountain high; you know my mountain low”. That is so true. God knows all of our happy, sucessful moments, our moments filled with wonder and He knows all of our sad moments, our failures and regrets, and the times when we have stumbled,

Jesus walks through all of our highs and lows. He knows them well, but He loves us through it all. And if we let Him, He will help us through it all. And, if we need, Jesus will also carry us through them.

God’s love is unconditional and forever. It will never lessen, nor will it ever end. We can trust God’s love for us and depend on it, and we can lean on it as often as we need too. And God will always hold us up and be really happy we did, because He loves us 🙂
